Founded in 2006, Fundación Yabonico takes its name from the town of Yabonico in the province of San Juan, Dominican Republic—the birthplace of Ms. Alejandrina Reyes, mother of our founding president, Emilio Alejandro Reyes. Originally, the foundation focused on supporting the people of Yabonico. In 2016, the mission expanded to promote the holistic development of children and youth throughout the Dominican Republic.
Since then, we have worked to bring living hope to thousands of young people.
To advance the holistic development of Dominican children and youth.
We dream of a Dominican Republic where every child and young person is equipped to fulfill their God-given purpose in the world.
We strengthen cognitive development through community-based learning initiatives such as courses, seminars, and conferences for Dominican children and youth.
We promote personal well-being through preventive and curative health initiatives, healthy nutrition, and physical education programs.
We encourage meaningful inner lives by sharing Christian principles and values through in-person and virtual conferences, discipleship programs, and educational resources.
We create opportunities for community interaction through events such as back-to-school rallies, holiday celebrations, and other large gatherings that build connection and belonging.
Hello, my name is Dashelin Moreta. I am 16 years old and a student at Liceo Emiliano Vázquez Mapello in the Sabana Perdida sector of the Dominican Republic. This is my story: Before encountering God, I lived isolated, sad, anxious, and alone. I didn’t know God or how powerfully He could transform my life. One day, a team visited my school and introduced us to God’s Word through the LAT book. They invited us to join a nine-week discipleship group where we learned about themes such as: God came in person, God reveals Himself, God has unlimited power, God can heal us, God restores what was lost, God takes my place, God overcomes, and God gives you a new opportunity. The lesson that impacted me most was “God Gives a New Opportunity.” I learned that Jesus gives me a fresh start and the chance to become a new person. After completing the discipleship, I began attending church. Today, I am part of a church community, and I am very grateful and happy for the transformation God has brought to my life.
